Empowering Students: Sulets’ Talk at DMU’s ‘Future You’ Programme
On February 20th, students at De Montfort University (DMU) had the valuable opportunity to hear from Irving Hill, CEO of Sulets, as part of the university’s esteemed ‘Future You’ programme. The talk, designed to equip final-year students with essential knowledge for life after university, focused on navigating the rental market and understanding their rights as future tenants.
With around 50 students in attendance, the presentation covered key aspects of housing, including how to find suitable accommodation post-university, what to look for in a rental property, understanding tenancy contracts, and the importance of guarantors and deposits. His expert advice provided students with the tools they need to make informed decisions when securing their next home.
A significant portion of the talk was dedicated to discussing the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill and the positive changes it will bring for tenants. This legislation, set to reshape the private rental sector, aims to provide renters with greater security, fairness, and transparency. Irving broke down how these changes would benefit students transitioning into the private rental market, giving them a head start in understanding their rights.
Sulets, a trusted student lettings agency in Leicester, is committed to providing ethical and student-focused housing. By engaging with students through informative sessions like this, we aim to empower them with the knowledge needed to navigate the rental market confidently.
