The summer holidays are coming to an end so don’t forget to make sure you have everything ready for the next academic year. The last thing you want to be doing is running around frantically trying to get everything together. Several shops are running sales so grab yourself a bargain! Here is a back to university checklist for you 👇

Kitchen essentials

  • Check if your house comes with a kettle, toaster and microwave. If not, places like Argos and B&M sell them for relatively cheap prices. If you’re anything like me, you’re going to need a cuppa in the morning before lectures so make sure you have a kettle!
  • Buy some pots, pans, and kitchen utensils for when you cook a nice meal. Asda, B&M, Home Bargains and IKEA are great places to pick up these items at an affordable price.
  • Dinnerware and cutlery are a must! I got mine in a Dunelm sale before my first year of university and I am now going into my final year with them. Keep an eye out for dinnerware sets in sale as you’ll have plenty – especially if you’re clumsy and break a few.

Stationery

  • This depends on how much you will use stationery on your course, so buy as much as you think you’ll need. Make sure you buy a pencil case to keep it all in! Places like Ryman’s and WHSmith sell a variety of stationery items, or you can simply order some from Amazon.

Toiletries

  • Make sure you have your shower toiletries. I bought separate shampoo, body wash and skin care for my university accommodation so I didn’t have to constantly bring it back to my home during the holidays. If you have a shared bathroom, it’s handy for you to have a caddy to easily move your toiletries from the bathroom to your bedroom.
  • Don’t forget your toothpaste & toothbrush!

Clothes

  • I made the mistake of packing my entire wardrobe when I started at university. So going into my final year, I’ll reduce how many t-shirts I’m bringing. Just make sure you have enough so you don’t have to do a wash every couple of days.

Bedding

  • You won’t need to buy a mattress, but you will likely need to buy pillows, a duvet and a mattress protector (if you’d like) – you can get these from B&M, Home Bargains etc.
  • You’ll need duvet sets too for your bed. I bought multiple in case I struggled to wash them in the washing machine.

How to collect your keys

  • Check how to collect your keys with your landlord. If you have rented a place through Sulets everyone in your household must have paid the deposit and first rent payment in full before any keys can be collected. Have a read of our move in info. You can also contact us by phone on 0116 467 0315 or send an email to enquiries@sulets.com.
