Ways to keep cool this summer

The warmer weather has finally arrived in the UK! But if you’re anything like me, you get bothered and frustrated trying to keep cool in the heat. Here are some simple ways to keep cool this summer.

Cheap fans

A good fan will be your best friend during the hot summer! There are a variety of different fans to choose from now, including your basic desk fan, neck fans and even ones that spray cool water at you. Plenty of shops such as B&M, Home Bargains and your local supermarket. However, if you don’t want to travel in the sweltering weather, Amazon.co.uk is the perfect place purchase a new fan – don’t forget your student Prime membership!

Wear light clothes

Wearing light-coloured clothes helps keep you cool as the colours reflect heat instead of absorbing it like darker clothes do. Also, you can purchase light-weighted clothes made out of linen and other materials which are more breathable and comfy. Shein is a good website to look at for these lighter clothes for an affordable price.

Have cold food and drinks

This sounds obvious, but consuming cold food and drinks will help regulate your body temperature. Drinking plenty of fluids is important to avoid dehydration when the weather is hot – put some ice in the drink to make it cooler for you. Switch that hot cup of coffee in the morning to wake you up with an iced coffee to stop you from feeling even warmer!

Have a cool shower

If you’re anything like me you shower even more when it gets hot during the summer as you feel all warm and gross. But having a hot shower will often make you feel worse on those sunny days. Try having a cool shower with the water colder than usual. At first, it will probably feel like a shock to your body but gradually it will feel refreshing and will regulate your body temperature.

Think about any last-minute rooms for September

The arrival of the hot weather won’t last forever! Soon it will be September and the beginning of the next academic year. Make sure you have everything sorted, including your student accommodation. If you need any last minute rooms or accommodation, contact Sulets by phone on 0116 467 0315 or send an email to enquiries@sulets.com.
