Student accommodation: Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is here! This is the ideal season to clean and declutter your student accommodation. For those of you moving out in the summer, getting things in order well before then can help the process go much more smoothly.

It may sound cliché, but I find the shift in temperature inspiring. Open all the windows, shake the duvet, and put on some rubber gloves to protect your precious hands from the cleaning products.

Being considerate to those you live with is essential when living in shared student accommodation. This can take many forms such as sharing food, playing music that everyone enjoys, and tidying up after yourself. Cleaning can be an often an overlooked way of showing consideration to others.

One of you might tend to clean up a little bit more after everyone else. It is better to engage everyone when doing a big home clean. All tenants should share evenly the costs and chores when living together.

Remember that the agency or landlord could hold back the deposit if things aren’t cleaned up properly. There may be an initial inventory available showing the original moving-in condition. If you want to be on the safe side when moving out of your Sulets student house, have a look over our guide on how to leave the property.

Staff will visit your house in order to monitor cleanliness and general upkeep. Check out the Tenants Handbook to find out more about maintenance, repairs, inspections, common problems, and regulations around your accommodation.

Plan an hour each week to clean up after yourself if you don’t have time for a thorough spring cleaning. You’ll be more motivated and at ease in your surroundings, which will help you unwind and focus better on your studies.

Sulets offer a selection of student housing that include six professional cleans of the property throughout the tenancy! In addition, our halls of residence offer a cleaning service for a small charge.
