Student accommodation: Guide to clearing

Navigating the university clearing process can feel confusing, especially when it comes to securing your student accommodation. But don’t worry, we are here to support you through it.

Clearing is a time period, generally between July and October, during which universities advertise the remaining places on their undergraduate programmes.

You can apply for a place on a university course that is still open.

Similarly, if you received higher-than-expected marks, you could be eligible to enrol in a different course at a university with higher entry criteria.

It is an alternative for people who have changed their minds about continuing their education, the course they wish to study, or who have not met the terms of their offers. Consider clearing if you have not been accepted to any of your options.

Don’t rush into anything. It’s normal to feel a range of emotions after the results day. Take some time to relax and process your results.

No matter what your results are, remember that you are not alone. There will be thousands of other students in your situation and there are many routes to achieving whatever you want to do.

Once you have accepted your place through clearing, you can focus on finding somewhere to live.

When you are just starting off at university, finding the appropriate student accommodation is essential. When applying through clearing, students must consider a number of things when selecting their student housing.

If you have applied for student financing, find out how much of a maintenance loan you will receive to help you plan your housing budget.

It is likely that your desired room, or even accommodation, will be unavailable during the clearing process since it has already been occupied. Consider what is essential to you and what you are willing to compromise on.

Sulets offers a variety of options across all of our properties, providing you with all of the benefits you would expect from university accommodation as well as additional advantages such as all-inclusive bills, social spaces, and onsite support.

You have a variety of alternatives for your accommodation type. Attend a viewing and quickly book online. But don’t wait for too long, availability is limited at this time of year, and places are first-come, first-served.
