It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The weather has dropped, the nights have grown darker, and the Xmas markets are in full swing. It is the start of the most wonderful time of the year, and you should make sure to celebrate it with your uni friends.
Whether it’s your first Christmas away from home or your last, these tips are sure to help you create a Christmas you won’t forget.
The obvious place to start is to get those decorations up. Give your room a Christmas makeover and spruce up your communal rooms with your own flat Christmas tree. Get Mariah Carey playing on the speaker and have fun with your friends putting up the tinsel and baubles. If you need places to find some cheap decorations, places such as Tiger in High Cross have a vast selection. Or for those of you who are creative, you could even make your own.
There’s no better way to settle your debates on who the best cook is in your house than making your very own Christmas dinner. Get the Turkey in the oven, lay your table with Christmas crackers and have fun unwinding after a long year and most likely a stressful day making the dinner. Don’t worry, it’ll be worth it once it’s done.
You could cap off your dinner with a classic Secret Santa. Put all your names into a stocking and pick out a random person to get a gift for. Not only does it add an extra level of excitement, but it also saves those of you on a budget from having to buy for everyone in your flat. Make sure to put a price limit to make sure no one goes over the top.
There are many other activities you can do throughout December. Who can make the best gingerbread house is a good way to unleash some Christmas competitiveness. If you’re looking for something to do on your own, you can have your very own Christmas movie marathon. I personally recommend Netflix’s Klaus to start you off. You could even organise your own Christmas quiz. There are also several Christmas-themed events you can attend in Leicester.
