Autumn has arrived and so has the new academic year. Your year will undoubtedly be full of new friends and, let’s face it, quite a few nights out.
But for those who may be coming to Leicester for the first time, or those looking for some events in between your usual university delicacies, here are some of the great things you and your new friends can do in Leicester.
Between 1st October – 30th November, Diwali celebrations will hit the streets of Leicester. Although it will be a less fancy affair than previous years due to safety concerns, the planned light show will still be a fun event for you and your new flat mates to go and watch together.
You may not think Leicester has much to offer over Christmas time compared to other places, however, there are several things for you to get involved in. The lights switch is the start of the Christmas festivities at the Clock Tower. The big light-up wheel and the Ice Rink shortly follow at Jubilee Square. There are even markets for you to get some food and have a mooch at some Christmas knick-knacks. It could be a perfect place to get a present for your flat mates.
Sean Lock, Josh Widdicombe and Romesh Ranganathan are some of the massive names who have performed at Leicester Comedy Festival over the years. It is on again from the 4th February to the 22nd over several venues and is certain to bring laughs. Or potentially not, which can equally be as enjoyable to watch unfold. You may even potentially discover the next big thing years before they become a household name.
It’s sure to be a fun, but long year ahead, but luckily the Riverside Festival is on the 8th June for you to unwind for the year. There will be live music, food stalls, and a fun fair for you and your friends to let your hair down after working hard all year.
