Launched in September 2009 and backed by staff with years of experience in private sector lettings, DSU Lettings was established with the aim of being different to all the other lettings agencies in Leicester.

Marketing

DSU Lettings can offer you unparalleled marketing capabilities including the ability to email over 20,000 students, direct access to University Faculties and access to internal University websites that attract thousands of hits per month as well as the traditional methods such as To Let boards, flyers, Websites. No other lettings agency can offer you this level of marketing for your property.

Trust

Students trust us to provide quality services to them so our lettings service will be a natural place for them to search for their next house. In a recent survey of over 570 students, over 94% said they were either ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to use our service. When asked, “Do you think the service will be professional” over 97% either ‘agreed’ or ‘strongly agreed’ with the statement.

Security

DSU Lettings is backed by an organisation with real financial and business strength. DSU runs bars, shops, catering outlets, a nightclub as well as delivering numerous non-commercial activities. DSU holds awards quality marks from the Legal Services Commission, Investors in People and SUEI.

In line with industry best practice, your rent is held in a separate client account and the agency is protected by professional indemnity insurance. Your deposits are protected by the DPS.

We collect your rent termly from students and unlike some agencies we immediately pay you the full rent collected minus our fees. We don’t hold on to the termly rent and release it monthly. We don’t need your rent to pay our wage bill and we never forget whose money it is. Your money and property is safe with us.

Fairness

We believe that we should only charge you for work we actually do so unlike other agencies we do not charge any repeat fees on ‘Tenant Find Only’ tenancies when the same tenants continue with you for a second or subsequent years.

Honesty

We believe in honest, transparent, fair dealing. Unlike most other agencies we make no secret of our fees and we won’t charge you extra for what some agencies call additional services:

• No extra fees charged for general repairs on managed houses. The price you pay is the price we pay.
• Registering your deposit with the DPS at no extra charge
• No renewal fees on Let Only Tenancies when the same tenants continue in the house for the second year.
• Essential Services, e.g. EPCs, Gas Safety checks etc strictly charged at cost, e.g. EPCs for £45 (the cheapest in Leicester). The price you pay is the price we pay.
